I *was* going to say to type '/usr/bin/open Terminal' in Terminal, but then I realized that wouldn't help.

nr konjeti, which operating system is your mac system?
The Terminal comes with OS X in the folder Bear named above. If you're running OS 9 then you'd have to upgrade to OS X before looking for Terminal.

Hi narasimharao, please avoid phrases like 'please reply immediately'. It just ticks people off and won't get you an answer any sooner.
If you are running Jaguar (OS X 10.2) then the Terminal app will be in the /Applications/Utilities folder as previously posted. If it is not there, then it has been deleted. In this case, you'll either need to obtain a copy from another Mac system, or repair your OS X installation.

Are you running your Mac at home, or in an office? Was it configured by your IT department? It's not unusual for an IT department to create a 'Master' image of a particular configuration of the OS and apply it to all workstations. It is highly likely they would also strip out any apps that would be a potential security issue, like the Terminal app.

An alternative to the OS X Terminal.app is the better replacement terminal iTerm - http://www.iterm2.com/
BUT - I don't know if it will work with OS X 10.2

It's worth pointing out that most of this discussion happened 2 years before Spotlight was released in 2005, which is what Cmd+Space is. I'd also like to hope that the OP has figured it out by now.

The way I do it is:
1) Hit Command+Space (this brings up Spotlight)
2) type in the wordterminal
3) hit Enter

If Terminal.app is missing, you could reinstall macOS, on top of your current installation. I mean even though you have macOS installed install it again over top of what you already have installed, without deleting or erasing anything. This should replace what comes with your version of macOS which is deleted.
